Hers: What She did while He was at GenCon

So, it sure has been a long time since I have updated the Hers part of the blog! Life just gets busy, you know?

So, I’m sure you were all wondering what I did while Josh was at GenCon, since I certainly didn’t go! While I can appreciate his enjoyment of it, I don’t think I would enjoy three days of wandering around booths with strangely-dressed people playing strange games. You all know about my fear of mascots, so it fits right in with that…

I had the distinct pleasure and honor to attend my friend Rachel’s wedding that weekend! My best friends from Taylor and I went to Columbus, IN for the festivities, and stayed the entire weekend. It was AMAZING. It is easy to get caught up in life’s daily activities and schedule, and I hadn’t realized how much I miss these girls on a regular basis. Emily, Erin, Christine, Laura, Steph  I MISS YOU!

We went down Friday afternoon for the bridal shower/rehearsal dinner, and then stayed the night in the hotel watching Shark Week and playing cards until the wee hours of the morning. Just ask Emily about what a stud Euchre partner I was even when I had  no idea what trump was…
We slept in, and then watched more of Shark Week (which I miraculously enjoyed somewhat, as again, I have an unhealthy fear of sharks, especially after Erin made me pet one at the zoo…) then went to the wedding! The ceremony was lovely, but could not compare to the ravishing beauty of the bride! I am so happy for you Rachel and Matt!
After the reception we went to BW3s for dinner with friends, and had a great time catching up. It has been at least two years since I had seen some of them, and it was so fun to hear what everyone is up to now!

While Emily was staying with me after the wedding until she flew back home, she lent me a book that I just started reading this week called The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. The title sounded really weird to me at first, but I have totally been drawn in. It is a series of letters written back and forth between a handful of people (at least so far!), and it is so funny and interesting! I think letter writing is a lost art, and I really hope to do much more of it after being inspired by this book! The setting is right after WWII. I’ll let you know more about it as I read more. :)

Also, I have a secret confession to make. I watched Twilight. Don’t tell anyone. I am not sure if I like it or not. I am not a fan of the romantic plotline (I don’t like feeling all mushy and emo after it, and I do not like the girl at all), but I like a lot of the characters. After watching the second movie, I had nightmares about vampires (see this post for more about that…), so I will be taking a break from it and maybe finishing it another time.

One last random thing. I love the show FireFly, and I completely blame my brother Erik for it. He was at my house one night this summer, and made me watch the first episode with him. I whined the entire time, and didn't like it. However, it has really grown on me, and I am SO sad that they cancelled it in the middle of Season One. FOX, you have no idea what you have done!!! I encourage you to check it out. Please comment with any TV shows you patricularly enjoy, since I am running out of episodes!

Well, I think that is all I have for now. Thanks for listening, and have a great rest of the day!

Kristin
